Our Case for Support
A Crisis Outpacing the System
Access to healing should not be determined by your zip code or income.
The Hard Truth
The Mental Health Crisis Has Outpaced the System
Across the globe, the mental health crisis has outpaced the system built to address it. Demand for care continues to rise, yet access remains deeply unequal. In Chicago—especially on the South and West Sides—therapy is too often unavailable, unaffordable, or misunderstood.
The Access Gap
For Black and Brown communities, historically racist health systems and a lack of diverse providers make seeking support even harder.
The Representation Crisis
Many graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds are forced to complete thousands of clinical hours without pay, creating a pipeline that excludes the very diverse, talented therapists our communities need most.
The Provider Burnout
While 1 in 10 Americans experienced a mental health condition in 2024, structural barriers and cost still determine who actually gets help.
Our Response
We don't just treat the symptoms, we rebuild the system
Resonate Joy was founded in 2022 to address both sides of the crisis: the people in need of care and the caregivers stretched beyond their limits. We believe that healing should ripple outward from each person, like a sound wave resonating from the heart.
Healing that Resonates Outward
We Listen Before We Act
We move intentionally and sustainably, valuing depth over speed.
We Create a Holistic Ecosystem
We are a community of professionals, artists, and advocates who believe mental health access must be equitable, creative, and deeply human.
Creative & Human
We approach mental health with creativity, compassion and deep humanity.
Program Summary
Our Three Pillars of Change
A comprehensive approach that addresses the crisis from every angle.
Therapy Residency
We fund and mentor diverse graduate students to remove the financial barriers of entry to the field. This allows residents to receive financial support while providing high-quality, reduced-cost care to the community.
Storytelling & Education
We equip organizations, storytellers, and mentors with trauma-informed expertise. By training the people on the front lines, we ensure every interaction—from a global interview to a local mentorship—becomes a safe space for micro-healing.
Creative Wellness & Outreach
Through community events and artful workshops, we expand the public's understanding of wellness beyond a clinical diagnosis. We make conversations about mental health accessible, real, and integrated into daily life.

Our Vision
A World Where Healed Individuals Heal Their Communities
Building Communities of Wholeness
We believe mental health isn't just a personal matter—it's a community responsibility. When people are supported to heal and thrive, they become agents of healing in their own circles.
Imagine neighborhoods where therapy is accessible and culturally attuned. Workplaces where emotional well-being is honored. Faith communities where conversations about mental health are met with compassion, not silence.
That’s the world Resonate Joy is building—one relationship, one story, one ripple at a time.
